Wetzel’s Pretzels, started nearly three decades ago by Bill Phelps and Rick Wetzel, has earned a spot as one of the top franchise concepts in the United States.
Wetzel’s, which opened in 1994 in Pasadena, was ranked in Franchise Times’ Top 400 franchises in the United States.
“Being recognized among so many incredible franchise brands across the country is a gratifying moment for us. We are in the top tier of brands, ahead of thousands of others in franchising, and we’ve done that by keeping our business model simple and profitable and our menu fun and fresh,” said Jennifer Schuler, CEO at Wetzel’s Pretzels.
“Building on this momentum, we’re embracing a mindset of growth. The future of Wetzel’s is bright and we’re eager to continue supporting our bakery owners’ accomplishments,” Schuler added.
Franchise Times takes a rigorous approach to researching the top franchises, according to the publication’s editor-in-chief Laura Michaels.
Wetzel’s “takes pride in its fun-loving, West Coast attitude, bringing communities together through its salty and sweet treats,” according to a company statement. “Since its founding in Pasadena 27 years ago, Wetzel’s has put a twist on tradition, expanding into innovative new avenues in an effort to provide fresh pretzels to snack enthusiasts nationwide.”
