The Pasadena Guild of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles held its 49th June Debutante Ball on Saturday, June 19, 2010 in the Ballroom of the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena. Over 600 members and guests celebrated the presentation of 34 young women who, together with their families, have supported the important work of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
This year, the Guild is celebrating its 63rd year. Established in 1947 by a small group of dedicated hospital volunteers, the Pasadena Guild raises funds for Childrens Hospital's research, education and patient services programs. The Guild has raised almost $25 million throughout the years, successfully completing six Guild endowments in Pediatric Surgery, Adolescent Medicine, Bone and Soft Tissue Tumor Research and Developmental Biology through the Saban Research Institute as well as one capital campaign project. Proceeds from this year's June Ball will support the Pasadena Guild's current project, The Pasadena Guild Endowment for Program Enhancement and Faculty Retention in Developmental Biology.
Guild President, Mrs. William John Garnett, III (Becky) and Ball Chairman, Mrs. Dennis Byron Kneier (Liz) and their husbands greeted guests prior to the ball. The presentation began at 8:00pm with welcome remarks by Mrs. Garnett and also by Dr. David Warburton, who oversees the Guild funded project in Development Biology at Childrens Hospital.
