UNDAUNTED, indeed energized by, the cool cloudy morning which greeted them, more than six hundred runners and walkers made their way to the town square last Sunday morning to honor the memory of a true American hero and take an early morning jog through the streets of San Marino.
The Tribune’s 10th annual J.P. Blecksmith 5K Walk & Run – the sixth contested in honor of J.P. – attracted yet another high-water mark in registrations, and has remarkably grown every year since its inception.
Proceeds from the event benefit the J.P. Blecksmith Leadership Foundation, which provides scholarships for qualified students at J.P.’s alma mater, Flintridge Prep in La Cañada.
Blecksmith, a San Marino resident and graduate of Flintridge Prep, attended the United States Naval Academy before accepting a commission to the Marine Corps.
