Make Music is quickly approaching once again and we are treated to another line up of great up and coming musical acts. The festivities take place this Saturday in Pasadena, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and are geared for people of all ages. Those interested in attending should make their way to Colorado Boulevard between Oak Knoll and Raymond Avenues, where various stages will be spread. Exact locations of the performances are difficult to pinpoint exactly, but this gives the audience an opportunity to explore the music and the city.
However, with over 150 performers it is easy to get lost in all the great music that will be gracing stages all across pasadena. So let’s overview the highlights. The first and probably my personal favorite is that of the unique and amazing band called Tennis.
There are few bands that upon hearing the lead singers voice its instant musical perfection however Alaina Moore does just that. With their unique blend of indie pop blissful tunes Tennis will undoubtably be one of the bands that is a must see. The next band that will be making a big impression on saturday is Saint Motel. This band has already made some traction with their song “My Type.”
With their blaring trumpets and melodic pianos riffs Saint Motel is a force to be reckoned with their debut album Voyeur is a testament to that. Songs like “puzzle pieces” and “Benny Goodman” show the bands classic style. Another band to watch out for is the folk infused band Run River North. Their self titled album is an acoustic centered album with strong lead vocals. Their creative lyrics and upbeat acoustic sound will stand them out from other acts.
Finally we have the main headliner, Yuna. Undoubtably Yuna will impress as she has been making waves all throughout the music community. This singer songwriter from Malaysia has put out two albums her latest entitled “Nocturnal.” Yuna is a powerful songwriter and singer her music shows her Malaysian influence and it creates a interesting blend of indie pop and strong folk music. Make sure you don’t miss these bands this weekend at the festival and discover some great new music!
