• South Pasadena Aging Healthy May 22


    City of South Pasadena will host a health fair from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm at the South Pasadena Senior Center located at 1102 Oxley Street, South Pasadena, California.  The event will feature health screenings such as bone density, BMI, Stroke, blood sugar and blood pressure throughout the day.  Over 35 vendors will be available with information to assist older adults to age in place.  Fitness demonstrations by Silver Sneakers and free box lunches for the for attendees who call in and reserve.

    Two local physicals will speak on matters that can affect senior citizens:At 9:45 Dr. Laura Heringer, MD, board certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine and earned her degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine in North Carolina and works with Health Care Partners will speak on “sleeping issues with aging adults.”

    At 11:00 am Dr. Christina Yeon, MD., Director of Infusion Services at City of Hope’s South Pasadena Cancer Center will speak on “Cancer prevention and Wellness” .  Voted by her peers as one of Pasadena Magazine’s “Best  Physicians of the San Gabriel  Valley” in 2008, 2009 and 2010, Dr. Yeon has practiced oncology and hematology in Pasadena since 2004.  She has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of  adult malignancies with a special interest in breast oncology and colon cancer syndromes.

    City of Hope will provide a gift for the first 50 attendees of the presentation.
