• Valentine Derby is Fun With Purpose

THEY’RE STYLIN’: More than 300 Valentine Elementary School parents and supporters, including many of the school's staff members and San Marino city officials, gathered last weekend at Santa Anita Park for a festive "derby style" fundraiser celebration. Some of the attendees took time to show off their festive outfits. PICTURED ABOVE, left to right, are Jennifer Danenhauer, Zarana Patel, Maren Pellant, Daisy Wilson, Andrea Telleria-Ruiz, Danica Hughes, Colleen Carroll, Natalie O'Connor, Mary Buckley, Jenny Yessaian, Joy Flores, Allison McCroskey, Kelly Duncan, Colleen McGuinness and Blythe Maling. At the event, red roses adorned the tables and many of the guests dressed in theme with ladies in their fancy headwear and men in their bow ties and suspenders. Excitement and school pride filled the air during competitive auction bidding and on the dance floor. Proceeds from this annual Valentine Parent Party help maintain the school's excellent programs in art, science, music and technology. Photo by Michael David Gallego.
