LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Sheriff’s detectives today renewed their call for public assistance tracking down a 37-year-old man who escaped from a downtown jail facility.
Christopher Lee Brown slipped out of the Sheriff’s Department’s inmate reception center about 10 p.m. March 12.
Brown had been sentenced to four years behind bars for burglary and identity theft for stealing computers from an Alhambra health care facility. The computers contained identifying information about 729,000 patients treated at the health care group’s hospitals.
Brown apparently impersonated another inmate and was able to walk out of the jail facility. Sheriff’s officials said there was a breakdown in security protocols that allowed Brown to escape.
Sheriff’s officials said today “identified security concerns were immediately remedied.”
Brown is 6 foot 3 inches and weighs 200 pounds. Anyone who spots him was asked to call 911. Anyone with information about his whereabouts should call the sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau at (562) 946-7231.
