• School Board Reaches Agreement With Consultant for Superintendent Search

The San Marino School Board this evening reached an agreement in principle with Leadership Associates to assist in the search for a successor to Superintendent Loren Kleinrock, who will retire June 30, 2014. The agreement is subject to review and approval of the definitive contract, which Leadership Associates will present at the next board meeting on Monday, February 24.

Dr. Mike Escalante and Dr. Dennis Smith of Leadership Associates will be present at the meeting and present a copy of the contract for approval.

“We had a proposal from them that included a general, form contract, but there are a couple of items we would like to change,” said Board President Chris Norgaard. “The reason I personally like this team, and fellow boardmember Lisa Link also liked them, is that Dr. Escalante and Dr. Smith will be personally involved in the on-line surveys, stakeholder meetings and all aspects of the search. Their group has a lot of experience with high-performing districts. They will come to San Marino and meet small groups or individuals to elicit feedback and also hold open community forums.”

In order to attract the most qualified candidates, the names of those who show interest in the post will remain confidential.

Kleinrock is in his third year as superintendent. He accepted the job when Dr. Gary Woods took a similar position with the Beverly Hills Unified School District.
