• Flooding in Alhambra


    ALHAMBRA (CNS) – Alhambra police warned people to stay away from an area that flooded today when a water main broke.

    Water started gushing from a broken main near Fremont Avenue and Mission Road shortly after noon, police said, adding that Mission Road was closed between Fremont and Lowell avenues.

    The water mixed with something public safety officials consider toxic, and a hazardous materials crew was summoned.

    Northbound Fremont Avenue was reopened about 6 p.m., although it remained closed southbound.

    Hazardous materials teams were planning to be involved in cleanup until about 11 p.m.
