The Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles was the site of this year’s annual presentation luncheon hosted by the San Marino Area Chapter of National Charity League. More than 500 Patronesses, Ticktockers and guests attended the June 23 event, as a most remarkable class of thirty-four young ladies were presented, along with their mothers, on a runway lined with beautiful topiary hedges, laden with citrus and hydrangea. Table centerpieces of fragrant roses, lemons and limes completed the formal English garden environment created by Pasadena florist Jacob Maarse.
‘Bloom and Grow Forever,’ the theme for both the luncheon and the upcoming Debutante Ball to be held in December, was a most fitting sentiment for these ladies women who have transformed from their early beginnings in NCL and have such bright futures ahead of them.
The presentation of the graduating Ticktockers is a long-standing Chapter tradition and includes brief biographies of each girl’s NCL accomplishments and high school activities, as well as future plans. This year’s class was truly an inspiring group of young women who excelled in many areas and maximized their NCL experience, while making exceptional contributions to their community and schools. Each proud mother joined her daughter on stage for their final walk down the runway, while the Jay Sterling orchestra played individually selected songs.
Another much-enjoyed feature of the Luncheon is a fashion show featuring models from the junior class. The girls’ pre-show model training was evident as they confidently strutted the catwalk in fashions from Bloomingdales. As always, the highlight was an array of dazzling Debutante gowns from Yelena’s Bridal in Monrovia. Nicole Stewart Productions provided the model training and choreography, and selected the fashions for the show.
