ALHAMBRA (CNS) – A driver of a Foothill Transit bus and seven passengers suffered injuries last night when the driver lost consciousness and the bus struck a sound wall and the center divider on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Alhambra.
The crash occurred around 8:45 p.m. on the westbound side of the freeway just east of the Long Beach (710) Freeway interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The bus driver, a woman, either fell asleep or passed out and the bus traveled across lanes and struck a sound wall then drifted back across lanes and into the center divider, Capt. Dean Hartshorn of the Alhambra Fire Department told reporters at the scene.
The driver then regained consciousness and brought the bus to a stop, he said.
The driver and injured passengers were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to FOX11.
