• Rapper 50 Cent Pleads Not Guilty

VAN NUYS (CNS) – Rapper 50 Cent pleaded not guilty today to misdemeanor charges of injuring an ex-girlfriend and destroying more than $7,000 worth of property.

Judge Bernard J. Kamins, a retired judge filling in at Van Nuys Superior Court, cautioned the rapper to stay away from the alleged victim.

The 38-year-old — whose real name is Curtis Jackson — is charged with one count of domestic violence and four counts of vandalism.

Jackson is accused of kicking open a bedroom door and kicking the woman, model Daphne Narvaez, after she locked herself inside a bedroom at a Toluca Lake condominium during an argument on June 23.

Los Angeles police officers called to the scene saw broken chandeliers and broken furniture throughout the woman’s condominium, and found a ransacked bedroom closet with her clothing thrown all over the floor, along with a broken television and lamp, according to the City Attorney’s Office.

Jackson allegedly left the scene before police arrived.

If convicted of all counts, the rapper could face up to five years in jail and $46,000 in fines, according to the City Attorney’s Office.

Jackson is due back in court on Sept. 4 for a pretrial hearing.
