• Big Rig is Overturned on Freeway Near Griffith Park

GLENDALE (CNS) – A semitrailer that rolled over while hauling a load of peppers blocked lanes on the Golden State (5) Freeway near Griffith Park this morning.

No injuries were reported in the rollover, which happened just before 11:50 p.m. Monday on the southbound side of the freeway just south of the Ventura (134) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck forced the closure of two lanes of the southbound 5 as well as the transition road from the eastbound 134 to the southbound 5, the CHP reported.

The southbound 5 lanes were reopened about 7 a.m., but the transition road remained closed, the CHP reported. It was unclear what caused the big rig to roll onto its side.
