San Gabriel Valley – The San Gabriel Valley Legislative Caucus recently sent a letter to Metro urging the postponement of the Measure R Expenditure Plan Amendment until outdated information is corrected. Specifically, they want Metro to identify the Foothill Extension to Claremont as an area of the plan that should be updated.
The instructions read as follows: “The Gold Line Foothill Extension to Claremont is still identified in the amendment as having a total cost estimate of $758 million and a completion year of 2017, reflecting the initial segment of the project to Azusa only. Although no additional Measure R funding is expected for this project, any expenditure plan should include the true estimated total cost of $1.714 billion to complete the project to Claremont (as defined by the state legislature in AB2321), as well as an updated completion year.”
Metro’s Executive Management Committee unanimously supported Supervisor Antonovich’s motion to update the expenditure plan with the latest cost estimates and completion years for all of the Measure R transit projects.
Progress continues to be made on the 700-linear-foot San Gabriel River Bridge. Of the 24 bridges that make up the 11.5-mile project, the San Gabriel River Bridge is one of the most challenging. The bridge is scheduled to be completed later this summer.
