• San Marino Author Wins International Book Award


    Cary Presant masterDr. Cary Presant, a San Marino resident, was the recent recipient of the 2013 International Book Award in general health from USA Book News. Entitled ‘Surviving American Medicine,’ Presant explains the changing aspects of medical care with healthcare reforms “and how each person must take control of their care to get the best doctors, insurance, hospitals and treatments to survive the emerging new rules and regulations.”

    The foreword of Presant’s bookwas written by Fran Drescher of ‘The Nanny’ fame.

    Using stories of Dr. Presant’s patients illustrating problems with healthcare, the book shows readers how to make the best decisions by providing valuable tips that can be used by healthy people to get preventive care and by patients with illnesses to improve their recovery.

    Presant – a national expert in healthcare – practices medical oncology and hematology in the San Gabriel Valley and is a professor of clinical medicine at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine.

    He has served as president of the American Cancer Society California Division, president of the Association of Community Cancer Centers and as president and chairman of the board of the Medical Oncology Association of Southern California.
