IRVINE (CNS) – A man was stabbed during a fight at a party on the UC Irvine campus early today, but his wounds were not considered life-threatening.
UC Irvine police were looking for a 22-year-old suspect, said university spokeswoman Cathy Lawhon.
The two men got into a fight over a woman at the party, leading to the stabbing about 1:45 a.m., Lawhon said. The suspect is not a UCI student, but it was unclear whether the victim was enrolled, she said.
Others at the party saw the suspect strike the victim in the chest area, Lawhon said. She did not know the victim’s age.
The suspect, whose name was not released, ran away and is believed to be driving someone else’s car, Lawhon said. It was unclear whether the vehicle was taken without permission, she added.
Police checked the suspect’s residence in South Pasadena, but he was not there, Lawhon said. He was described as Asian, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds, with tattoos on both arms.
