• Five Acres’ 125th Anniversary Gala Raises Critical Funds for Children and Families


    ALTADENA – Over 250 guests attended Five Acres’ 125th Anniversary Swingin’ on a Star Gala on May 18th at the Ambassador Campus in Pasadena in support of Five Acres’ pioneering services that promote safety, well-being and permanency for children and their families. The event made more than $200,000, raising critical funds for the nonprofit’s vital services which provide successful solutions for over 6,500 children and families in crisis annually throughout Southern California.

    “Thank you to the generations of great leadership and committed supporters for joining our Five Acres family in celebrating 125 years of positively impacting the lives the of children and families in crisis,” said Chanel Boutakidis, Five Acres’ Chief Executive Officer. “At Five Acres, we know what success looks like. But the work is not done. We invite the next generation of supporters to continue our legacy by investing in Five Acres and joining our cause.”

    Five Acres proudly honored Wells Fargo, represented by David DiCristofaro, President, Greater Los Angeles Region and JonathanWeedman, Senior Vice President, Wells Fargo Foundation, for their long history of supporting children in need. Carol Smith of Pasadena andLisa Ashworth-McMullen of Altadena were this year’s event co-chairs and provided vision and leadership for Five Acres’ very popular fundraiser, crucial to sustaining eleven programs for child abuse prevention, treatment and family education. Wendy Burch, news reporter/anchor for KTLA morning news and friend of Five Acres emceed the event.

    Distinguished guests in attendance include: Songwriter and producer, Tena Clark and her partner, Michelle LeClaire; Actors Sam Jaeger and his wife, Amber; Actor Matthew Lillard and his wife, Heather Helm; Writer Matt Nix and his wife, Melinda Stahl; Pasadena Police ChiefPhillip Sanchez and his wife, Deborah; Pasadena Police Commander John Perez and his wife, Norma; and APA Talent and Literary Agency Managing Partner, Troy Blakely. Also in attendance were Five Acres board members Andrew Crowell and his wife, Keri; Casey Adams and his wife, Catherine; Chantal Bennett and her husband, Stephen; John Fosselman and his wife, Jill; Christianne Kerns and her husband, Charlie; Michele Hall and her husband, John; Don Bishop and his wife, Karen; Bill Wishner and his wife, Kathy; Don Bolineand his wife, Jill; Sandra Goto-Hochman and her husband, Michael; John Reith and his wife, Charlotte; Brad Mohr and his wife,Susan; Nishat Ahmed; Five Acres Ambassadors Christine Davis and her husband, Jay; and Gene Gregg and his wife, Dodie.

    The evening included a special video presentation of Five Acres alumni stories produced by Clear Stream Media Group, a grand finale performance by Sheléa Fraizer, who sang “Reach for the Sky,” composed and written by Tena Clark, and a surprise fireworks spectacle in recognition of Five Acres’ 125th anniversary.
