• Use iWatch Website to Report Suspicious Activity

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – As the Boston area copes with the Marathon bombings and its aftermath, the Los Angeles Police Department reminded the public today of the iWatch website, which is designed as a reporting mechanism for suspicious activity linked to terrorism.

Described by police as the “21st century version of Neighborhood Watch,” the site is designed to gather tips from the public in accordance with the motto, “If You See Something, Say Something.”

“The iWatch program is the embodiment of community-based policing and the police partnering with the community,” LAPD Chief Charlie Beck said in a statement.

Suspicious activities include unusual interest in building security measures, unattended vehicles in no parking zones, and the purchase of equipment or materials that can be used to make bombs.

People going to the site — www.lapdonline.org/iwatchla — can remain anonymous if they desire.

In the Boston area community of Watertown, police fatally shot one of two suspects in the Marathon bombing and were looking today for the man’s brother, who was listed as the second suspect. Both are reported to be longtime immigrants from Russia of Chechen origin.
