• Magicians Penn and Teller Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

HOLLYWOOD (CNS) – The magicians Penn & Teller will receive the 2,494th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today for entertaining fans for more than 35 years with a Las Vegas act that they’ve also taken to Broadway, television and on world tours.

Fellow magician David Copperfield and their longtime friends, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of the Comedy Central animated series “South Park,” will join Penn & Teller in speaking at the 11:30 a.m. ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard.

The star will be located near that of Harry Houdini. The ceremony comes one day before Penn & Teller receive the Magicians of the Year Award at The Magic Castle.

Penn Jillette and the generally silent Teller have performed together since the late 1970s, redefining the genre of magic and creating their own distinct niche in comedy.

They had a 10-year run at The Rio All-Suite Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, one of the longest-running shows in Las Vegas history. They had series on Showtime and Discovery Channel and appeared on “Late Show with David Letterman,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Friends” and “The Simpsons.”

Jillette was a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” and “The Celebrity Apprentice,” hosted the NBC game show “Identity,” and has written three books, including “God No!” which reached The New York Times bestsellers list.
