LOS ANGELES (CNS) – “A Good Day To Die Hard” opened with a $25 million box office this weekend, an estimate that was good enough to put the Bruce Willis flick into the number one spot on its debut.
The movie opened Thursday, giving it an estimated $33.2 million gross for the four-day period, according to studio estimates gathered by Hollywood.com Box Office.
“Identity Thief” dropped to second place in its second week of showings, with $23.4 million in ticket sales.
A pair of premieres snagged the third and fourth place spots. “Safe Haven” is having a $21.4 million opening, and “Escape From Planet Earth” is on track for $16.1 million in ticket sales.
According to studio estimates gathered by Hollywood.com, the remaining top movies in the United States and Canada this weekend were “Warm Bodies” ($9 million), “Beautiful Creatures” ($7.5 million), “Side Effects” ($6.3 million), “Silver Linings Playbook” ($6 million), “Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters” ($3.5 million) and “Zero Dark Thirty” ($3.1 million).
