• American Record Holder Will Run in L.A. Marathon

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – American record holder Deena Kastor will run in the Los Angeles Marathon March 17, organizers announced today.

“I was on the L.A. Marathon course last year as part of the broadcast team and I was so impressed with the course and the energy of the event that I knew I needed to compete in 2013,” said Kastor, who has not previously run in the Los Angeles Marathon.

Kastor, who will turn 40 on Feb. 14, set the women’s American record for the marathon — two hours, 19 minutes, 36 seconds — in winning the 2006 London Marathon. She won a bronze medal in the marathon in the 2004 Olympics and is a 25-time national champion in track, road and cross country races.
