• Miss California Pageant Coming to Pasadena

The city of Pasadena will welcome the MISS CALIFORNIA USA and MISS CALIFORNIA TEEN USA Pageant for the first time in their history on January 12-13, 2013 at the Pasadena Convention Center. Last year, the pageant made international headlines by featuring two openly lesbian contestants. This year, the pursuit of the crown has expanded to include the first transgender competing for a state title and the chance to represent her state at MISS USA (for more information, please contact us).

Co-Executive Director of MISS CALIFORNIA USA and MISS CALIFORNIA TEEN USA, Keith Lewis, states, “Our pageant has always been a celebration of California’s diversity. There is no language on the planet that is not spoken by someone living here and no race or nationality that is not represented in one of our cities. I am proud of all of our contestants and the boundaries that many continue to challenge as they strive for acceptance in a changing world.”

In 2011, the state of California was fortunate enough to see its reigning MISS CALIFORNIA USA winner, Alyssa Campanella, move on to win the MISS USA crown and to be a top 16 semifinalist at the MISS UNIVERSE2011 pageant. Working with the producers of the largest pageant in the 62 year history of Miss USA, California has had three 1st runner-ups and a MISS USA over the last 8 years under K2′s leadership. Not to mention, the Pageant has generated over 275,000 online viewers.

The MISS CALIFORNIA USA and MISS CALIFORNIA TEEN USA pageants are judged by well-known celebrities and respected industry professionals on three main categories: interview, swimsuit and evening gown. All contestants are also reviewed on vital judging criteria including: character, poise, confidence and personality. The winner of the MISS CALIFORNIA USApageant will go on to compete in the MISS USApageant, the precursor to the MISS UNIVERSE pageant.
