PASADENA (CNS) – A sport utility vehicle struck the rear of a broken down big-rig this morning and plunged about 25 feet off the Ventura (134) Freeway in Pasadena, landing on surface streets and injuring the SUV’s driver.
The crash was reported at 1:04 a.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball.
The SUV went through cones and slammed into the rear of a semitrailer stopped on the shoulder of the eastbound side of the freeway, overturned and landed in the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and Melrose Avenue about 25 feet below the freeway, a news photographer reported from the scene.
The driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition, the photographer reported.
