• Three Rose Court Members Have Ties to San Marino

SAN MARINO – After an extended period of disappointment where San Marino was unable to land a single princess on the Tournament of Roses Royal Court, three young women heard their names called this morning and were handed a bouquet of red roses, signifying their selection to the seven-person assemblage.

San Marino High School senior Sonia Shenoi, Maranatha senior Kate Benuska and Victoria McGregor of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy were chosen from more than nine hundred applicants and thirty-three finalists this morning at Tournament House.

Sonia is a San Marino resident, Kate attended San Marino schools until last September when she transferred to Maranatha and Victoria is the granddaughter of long-time residents Joan and Peter Kaplanis.

The 2013 Rose Queen will be announced next Tuesday, October 16.
