From 6-7 p.m., people who have purchased books can pick them up. Additional books will be available for purchase at that time. The cost is $59.81 per copy. Cash and checks will be accepted. The program will begin at 7 p.m., when Centennial Book Committee Chairperson Ave Bortz will introduce the author, the creative team and the members of the Book Committee. Several special guests who are members of families mentioned in the book will also be recognized.
Pomeroy will speak about her experiences researching and writing this important history of San Marino. She will shed light on how she skillfully shaped the stories of the past into an exciting and illuminating book which leads the reader from the early era of abundant water, blue skies and ranches to the San Marino of today. A rich collection of photos and maps help to illustrate the story of this unique community. The addition of people’s personal stories make the history of San Marino come alive.
Many contributed to the creation of this book. Pomeroy and the Centennial Book Committee worked for over four years to help make this book a reality. Committee members included Ave Bortz, Judith Carter, Wayne Carter, Nick Curry, Julie Fedde, Linda Mollno, Lee Mothershead, Ivy Sun, Bob Twist, and David Zeidberg. The creative team of Jeff Lapides of First Water Design and Charley Allen and Doreen Chen of Charley Allen Imaging Experts combined the text and illustrations into a work of art.
