BEVERLY HILLS (CNS) – Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney added a Beverly Hills appearance to his schedule today.
National news media accounts had Romney going to Denver for a Sunday campaign stop following a 2 p.m. fundraiser at a luxury hotel near Del Mar in San Diego County owned by newspaper publisher Doug Manchester.
Instead, Romney came to the Southland to speak at an evening fundraiser at The Beverly Hilton, at which campaign staffers say he raised about $6 million. It is not known how Romney traveled to the Los Angeles area, but he arrived in San Diego in a private plane.
Mike Murphy, who was among the attendees at the Beverly Hilton event, said he was there to get a more concise view of Romney’s stances.
“I just want to hear an affirmation of what his policies have been all along,” Murphy told CBS2. “That he has a plan to deal with the economy; that he can have a good foreign policy to kind of get rid of, or at least alleviate some of the problems we are having.”
A handful of Romney supporters and critics gathered near the hotel, located at the intersection of Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards.
