PASADENA – Saturday, September 22nd Flintridge Retreat Center, 236 W Mountain, Suite 117, Pasadena, CA 91103, 25 teenage girls serviced by Hiilside, Rosemary Children’s Services of Pasadena and Girls Republic of Monrovia will attend “Free To Be Me” a day filled with speakers, life coaching, makeovers and gifts. Young women will be presented with such topics as “Personal Safety: A Basic Human Right,” “Bumpy Road to the Joyful Ride” and “Miss Conduct: The Do’s and Don’ts of Power Girls.”
Life Coach Milena Mgeladze, a new Board member of 50/50 Leadership and a Pasadena Human Relations Commissioner is the driving force behind Z Flower Power. Milena was inspired by her strong belief “that girls who have experienced the kind of hardship many only read about, and who were challenged to survive from a very young age are marked for greatness. When provided with opportunities and guided in the right direction these girls have the potential to become the women leaders we so desperately need.” Milena knew that group homes serve the most vulnerable teenage girls and decided to reach out to them. Z Flower Power was established to create opportunities for the teens to have access to professional life coaches and to learn from accomplished women how to beat the odds and how to shine their own light to illuminate their future.
Z Flower Power’s mission already received overwhelming support from the community, local businesses and corporations. This event was made possible through unlimited kindness of the presenters, coaches and volunteers and in-kind donors including: Flintridge Foundation, Marinello School of Beauty of Burbank, Robin’s BBQ Restaurant, Pepsi, Union Bank, Trader Joe’s, Sephora, and Buttoned Flower.
