PG-rated horror film “The Possession,” the weekend box office winner for the past two weekends,  fell to third place, taking in $5.8 million and pushing its cumulative gross to $41.2 million.

The prohibition-era drama “Lawless” was expected to pull in about $4.2 million to take fourth place, and the 3-D “ParaNorman” was projected to gross $3 million — it cumulative rose to $49.3 million — to round out the top five.
