• Monterey Park Police Warn of Law Enforcement Impersonators

MONTEREY PARK (CNS) – Monterey Park police today warned residents about a police impersonator who recently pulled over a woman.

The woman told police she saw red and blue flashing lights on a vehicle behind her after midnight one morning last month and pulled over near Graves and Alhambra avenues, police said.

A 30-something man with dark, curly hair and an olive complexion, who spoke with a Spanish accent and wore a brown T-shirt, started questioning her, police said.

Police said she considered the questions suspicious, and the man eventually asked her to move to the passenger seat. When she asked for identification, he refused and told her to go home, police said.

Monterey Park police said the woman was right to be suspicious, because police generally wear uniforms. Officers are instructed to show identification if asked for it, police said.

Anyone who has had a similar experience, or has information as to the name or whereabouts to the suspect, was asked to call detectives at (626) 307- 1226.
