PASADENA – Pasadena residents and elected officials made their voices heard loud and clear Monday night, asking their city council to reject three proposals for the 710 Freeway extension.
The council officially opposed a tunnel connecting the 10 Freeway to the 134 Freeway, a surface route which would have broadened Avenue 64 and a highway route around the areas that encompass the streets of Huntington Drive, Fair Oaks Avenue and Pasadena Avenue.
The council voted unanimously to oppose these three alternatives.
Many people in the community raised concerns which included the influence of truck and freight traffic, congestion, the possible devastation of homes and the lack of outreach by Metro to local neighbors.
