The SGV Sandlot Sharks 10u baseball club team, based out of San Marino and featuring several San Marinians, captured 2nd place at the USSSA Western World Series held at Big League Dreams in Chino Hills and West Covina. The Sharks then lost a thrilling semi-final game on Saturday against the Lunada Bay Berrics that went 8 innings for a final score of 6-5. That loss forced the Sharks to once again play a very good Hawaii Bombers team on Sunday morning. Behind great pitching and defense, the Sharks won another thriller 3-1. That forced a rematch with Lunada Bay for the championship. Quiet Sharks bats finally woke up in the bottom of the 6th while trailing 6-1. The Sharks scored 3 and had runners on 2nd and 3rd when the final out was recorded. Sundays action featured excellent pitching from Kenji Pallares and Austin Aguilar and diving catches from San Marinians Hayden Eaves and Kade Wentz.
