PASADENA (CNS) – The Pasadena Police and Fire departments are sponsoring
a weeklong Junior Public Safety Academy for a group of area teenagers,
beginning today.
Forty Pasadena teenagers were selected to take part in the five-day
academy, according to Sgt. Bobby Lomeli of the Pasadena Police Department.
The teens will have an opportunity “to interact with police and fire
professionals while learning firsthand what these potential careers entail,”
Lomeli said.
The group is scheduled to visit the Forensics, K-9, Traffic, Dispatch,
Heliport and Jail units at the Pasadena Police Department and learn about fire
safety techniques and basic firefighting training at the Pasadena Fire
Department, according to Lomeli.
The students will also visit the Orange County Sheriff’s Academy and
Training Center and two Los Angeles City Fire Boats, he said.
The program will culminate with a graduation luncheon on Saturday,
according to Lomeli.
