SAN GABRIEL VALLEY – In a report secured by the Tribune, details are surfacing over the crash suffered by former U.S. Commerce Secretary John Bryson June 9 in the San Gabriel Valley. Bryson last week collided with a car, backed into it again and drove off before a collision with a second car.
He was later found unconscious at the wheel, appearing disoriented at the hospital he was transported to. Blood tests were negative for alcohol and controlled substances but positive for Ambien. The treating doctors agreed that the suspect was suffering from confusion following from a seizure before the crash. L.A. County prosecutors will not press criminal charges against him.
Criminalists were inconclusive as to whether or not the Ambien was a factor in either of the collisions. There was insufficient evidence to determine whether or not he was driving under the influence.
