ARCADIA – Three time Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton will be performing in Southern California this weekend, first at Cal Phil’s Festival on the Green (led by Cal Phil Maestro Victor Vener) at Santa Anita Race Track and then at Walt Disney Concert Hall Sunday.
In addition, Arthur C. Bartner, esteemed director of the USC Trojan Marching Band will help kick off Cal Phil’s new season at the race track on both days as well.
Additional guests include Jay Cohen, Santa Anita’s 23-year official bugler and Lucky and Winnie, Santa Anita’s beloved mascots. Earlier this week Cal Phil had an official ribbon cutting featuring Cal Phil reps and Santa Anita Race Track officials, as well as Arcadia city leaders.
The classically trained Carlton will bring her mom to the event and perform a couple of songs from each of her albums and credits the following artists as having special influence on her career: Aaron Copland, Mozart, Fleetwood Mac, Carole King, Stevie Nix and Vladimir Rachmaninov.
There will be amazing food at the event, with a carving station and plenty to choose from. Picnic baskets are also welcome. Also, the horse from the movie Seabiscuit will be there as well.
