• San Gabriel USD Announces its Appointment of Dr. David Yoshihara as the next Superintendent

SAN GABRIEL – At its Regular Board meeting on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, the Governing Board appointed, by a 5-0 vote Dr. David Yoshihara as Superintendent, effective July 1, 2012. Dr. Yoshihara brings with him a wealth of experience in public education. Dr. Yoshihara is both humbled and excited to come to San Gabriel USD. He is also fortunate to have raised four incredible children (two daughters and two sons) who are all products of public education. The two teens are graduates of Torrey Pines High School and are working while going to college. The youngest is in preschool and the next oldest will be in first grade this fall.

Dr. Yoshihara was born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and was an immigrant to this country. While it was his mother’s dream for him to become an Engineer, it was his dream to become an Educator.

Dr. Yoshihara brings an eighteen year career in education serving in a range of positions including teacher, grant director, site administrator, director of instructional support, chief human resource officer, and chief business official. He had the unique opportunity to serve in elementary districts, unified districts, and county offices. He has taught in high school, community colleges, vocational institutions, private colleges, and state university in subjects ranging from mathematics to graduate programs.

Dr. Yoshihara comes to San Gabriel USD from La Mesa-Spring Valley School District where he currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent, Business Services through the end of June, 2012.

The San Gabriel Unified staff, parents, students, and community members welcome the new Superintendent Dr. Yoshihara and look forward to working together for the future of the children of San Gabriel.
