• Singer Iglesias’s hotel room robbed in Venezuela

CARACAS, May 10, 2012 (AFP) – Spanish crooner Julio Iglesias was robbed of his passport and cash when thieves raided his hotel room while he performed in Venezuela, police and media reports said Thursday.

A police official said the theft occurred late Sunday night during a concert in Valencia, northern Venezuela, and was being investigated.

The El Universal newspaper said Iglesias lost cash, his passport and other valuables in the robbery, and said other musicians on the tour also had been the victims of theft.

Iglesias, 68, will continue his tour with a May 12 concert in Peru.
