SOUTHPASADENA, CA – Information on Emergency Service Efforts
The Cityof South Pasadena Department of Public Works is working on clearing andcleaning damaged trees on the public right-of-way. Residents are urged to report any issues with City Trees tothe Public Works Department at (626)403-7240. Some areas of the City are still experiencing power outagesdue to downed lines. If you see adowned power line or experience a power outage please call the SouthernCalifornia Edison Outage Hotline at (800) 611-1911.
The SeniorCenter, at 1102 Oxley Street, will serve as a shelter during normal businesshours Monday through Friday for those who are without power or heat. Although animals will not be permittedat the Senior Center, shelter can be arranged through the Pasadena HumaneSociety at (626) 792-7151.
The SouthPasadena Public Library is observing its regular hours. The community iswelcome to stop by to keep warm, to study, to charge cell phones and laptops,use PCs and of course, to relax and read books, magazines, and newspapers.For more information call (626) 403-7330.

A power line is down. What do I do and whom should I call?
Do not touch any downed lines,even if you don’t see sparks. Call the Southern California Edison at(800)611-1911. If you do see sparks, it is a live wire and is very dangerous. Call 9-1-1.

I have a downed tree. What do I do?
If it’s a City of South Pasadena tree, call the city at (626) 403-7240. If a tree has fallenon your private property you may contract a licensed tree trimming company toremove and cut any damaged tree. Please call the Public Works department to notify them of how many treesthat are being removed and what type of trees were damaged.If ithas damaged any property, contact your insurance company.
Do I need apermit to trim or remove a tree?
No, due to the emergency situation, theCity will waive permit fees. However,you will still need to notify the City Public Works Department so that you arenot fined or prosecuted at a later date.

What can I do with all of the greenwaste or large branches?
The City’scontract trash company is Athens Services which takes regular household refusecollection once per week from your back yard. Athens Services’ customer service can be reached at (888)336-6100. Property owners can cutbranches into small bundles and tie them with string and place them next totheir trash bins. Also, Athenswill continue its regularly scheduled weekly pick-up of up to eight (8) bins oftrash or green waste per property.
What can I do if I have large amounts ofgreen waste or large branches that cannot fit in my trash bins?
Binsmust be provided by Athens Services,The City’s contract trash company. You may also consider hiring privatetree contractors. The City is prohibited from recommending particular companies, but we dohave a list of companies who regularly do work in the City. Contact (626) 403-7243.
