ARCADIA – Santa Anita’s Peter D. Siberell, George Haines and the California Philharmonic’s Victor Vener made a big announcement to a small group of media members Saturday afternoon on the Arboretum grounds before the concert.

That announcement is that Santa Anita Park is the new summer home for Cal Phil next year.

“Santa Anita Park is thrilled to announce its new association with Cal Phil and all of the exciting things that we have in store for concert-goers beginning next summer,” said George Haines, President of Santa Anita Park. “We take great pride in providing the Southland with the finest entertainment, and are pleased to not only offer first class horse racing, but now the best of summer concerts.”

Santa Anita Park is the new home for the acclaimed California Philharmonic and its highly-successful Festival on the Green summer concert series beginning next year.

“2012 can’t come quick enough,” said Vener, who praised the partnership shared between Cal Phil and Santa Anita Park. “I am pleased to be both a tenant and a partner with Santa Anita.”

There will be some 4,500 parking spots available for next year’s shows. In addition there will be a musical petting zoo and a focus on making the summer concert experience family-friendly.

Those who made the announcement noted that there will also be upgraded toilet facilities at the new location.
