EAST PASADENA (CNS) – An off-duty sheriff’s deputy who shot and wounded
two men in unincorporated East Pasadena did so after he was attacked as he
waited in the drive-through lane of a restaurant, the sheriff’s department
reported today.
The gunfire erupted about 1:55 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of
Rosemead Avenue, according to the department.
Investigators said the two men were among four people in a vehicle that
was behind the deputy’s vehicle in the drive-through lane.
For unknown reasons, two men got out of that vehicle and accosted the
deputy, according to the sheriff’s department.
The deputy got out of his vehicle and opened fire. The wounded men were
arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be
life-threatening.
The other two people in the vehicle were arrested by deputies from the
sheriff’s Temple Station on suspicion of assault and making criminal threats.
No weapons were recovered. The suspects’ names were not released.
Though the shooting happened Saturday, authorities did not release
details of the confrontation until today.
