SOUTH PASADENA (CNS) – A retired Pasadena school teacher was arrested
for allegedly furnishing alcohol to minors, including former students, police
said today.
David Lyman, 66, who used to teach at Blair High School in Pasadena, was
taken into custody Thursday and booked on suspicion of furnishing alcohol to a
minor, the South Pasadena Police Department reported.
He was released on his own recognizance, pending a court appearance.
The Pasadena Unified School District contacted the South Pasadena Police
Department in January, “after their internal investigation revealed current
and former Blair students were visiting Lyman’s South Pasadena home in the 1700
block of Oxley Street, where Lyman was furnishing alcohol to them and allowing
them to view pornography on his computer,’ police allege.
Detectives interviewed the students and presented their case to the
District Attorney’s Office, and an arrest warrant was issued, police said.
In California, furnishing alcohol to a minor means giving alcohol to or
purchasing it for a person under 21 years of age.
