• Caltech Breaks 26-Year Losing Streak, Eslinger to be Guest Coach

PASADENA (CNS) – Caltech men’s basketball coach Oliver Eslinger will be
a guest coach of the Washington Generals, the Harlem Globetrotters’ opponents,
for tonight’s game at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario.

Eslinger was named to the post Wednesday, one day after the Beavers
ended a 310-game losing streak in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference play by defeating Occidental, 46-45, in their final game of the
season. It was their first victory in conference play since 1985.
With the Generals, Eslinger joins a team with even a longer losing
streak. They last defeated the Globetrotters on Jan. 5, 1971.
Eslinger was named as Caltech’s coach in 2008 after serving six seasons
as the associate head coach and top assistant for the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology. He has a doctorate in counseling and sports psychology from
    Boston University.
